MINUTES OF MEETING NEW BRAINTREE AGRICULTURAL COMMITTEE
April 1, 2015

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm.
Present: Paul Schur, Joan Walker
Absent: Lisa Trum-Searah, Herb Pollard, Scott Metcalf

There being no quorum no votes were taken.
Paul brought the new edition of Monadnock Table and showed to Joan – Joan will bring to next meeting.
Joan and Paul discussed the meeting schedule and hope it will work out OK – may need to re-evaluate if the dates conflict often for members.
Joan gave Paul the public records law packet from the informational meeting at the town – she will bring to the next meeting.
Joan gave Paul the new Commonwealth farm acts that the farm bureau made up – she will bring to the next meeting.
Paul and Joan discussed Central Mass Grown – Joan will bring booklets next meeting.
There being no further business, Joan and Paul agreed to adjourn at 7:10 pm.

February 4, 2015

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm.

Present: Paul Schur, Joan Walker, Scott Metcalf

Absent: Lisa Trum-Searah, Herb Pollard

Minutes of the last meeting were approved as distributed with Joan motioning and Scott seconding.
Joan discussed points brought up at Harvest New England conference and she will attend the Mass Association of Ag Commissions meeting and elections. She will contact Kip Graham at the Holden FSA for help in identifying farms in New Braintree and their addressed – she had spoken to him in person and will follow up.
Paul brought information on and discussed the Commonwealth Quality Program – he had attended their meeting. The info was targeting produce and maple products but they are working on accreditation on beef. Joan said she would put a link to the program on the AgCom Facebook page.
Scott discussed ServeSafe and traceability and a discussion ensued on requirements for the CQP, farmers markets, selling to the public, etc. Paul discussed sanitation requirements for Maple Products.
Paul mentioned that he had not seen the RTF signs up – Joan did send a request to Selectman asking if they could be put up.
She was told the winter was taking its toll on the highway crew and signs were hard to get to through the snow – they would be put up in the spring.
Scott said the NH Farm and Forestry expo was this weekend. The schedule of the meeting and seminar were discussed.
Scott noted that the Facebook page was showing interest from people. Paul discussed networking and Scott suggested local farm tours (Rutland does this). This was discussed as a possibility.
The next meeting was discussed: it will be March 4, 2015 as regularly scheduled. Items to be discussed are updates on the letter
to town farms, the town farm email data base and update from Joan on the Mass Association of Ag Committees meeting.
Scott and Joan discussed a few points on accumulating the town farm data base for the Ag Comm records.
There being no further business, Joan motioned and Scott seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at 7:28 pm.
